The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to implement a marking system in the National Eligibility Test (NET) as a step toward discontinuing entrance examinations conducted by universities for PhD programs. Consequently, the UGC has designated the NET as the singular national entrance test for PhD admissions.
From June 2024 onwards, therefore, the NET candidates will be declared eligible in three categories:
